You’ve probably noticed we’ve taken a bit of a sabbatical.
No, we’re not dead — maybe on the inside, but that’s always been the case around here. We didn’t close the doors. We aren’t going to stop writing.
First off, it’s no secret that most of the staff is semi-retired. That’s been the case since circa 2012. We thought we could manage the duties of the site along with our lives here in 2016 and, well, we made it to game eight before that began to fall apart. Schedules, man. But we know the options for good Penguins coverage are limited to a pay wall site and SB Buzzfeed, so we owe it to everyone (we think) to try to pull through and find some time to put some marginally readable content on the interwebz. We’ve owned this corner of the internet for ten years now, but…
Change is a coming.
Earlier this week, the semi-retired and still willing got together and concluded that we need some fresh blood around here. A new direction, if you will:
- We are very happy to formally welcome Pat Damp (@SynonymForWet) and Leah Blasko (@SeeyaLeah) to the team. Their podcast, Pat And Leah Have A Hockey Podcast, will be here every week beginning this Wednesday.
- The Miller vs. Marshall podcast will be coming at you on a bi-weekly basis going forward. Look for that to kick off Monday the 14th.
- Gamedays and recaps WILL be back for the Sharks game this Saturday night. One difference you may periodically see is video recaps, where we break down the goals and anything else worth talking about from the games. Not exactly Jay’s Telestration, but something like that.
- Expect Jesse to continue to drop his knowledge here with his stats posts on a regular basis.
- Stephen is fresh of his victory at the Emmy’s and will continue to the head of everything graphically awesome.
- Derek and Adam are still lurking…
- And finally, we have bids out to two outstanding writers who have been part of our community here for years. We’re optimistic that they will be coming aboard and hope to have an announcement about that early next week, but still, WE ARE HIRING. If you have some interest in contributing content, drop me a line: [email protected].
Thankfully it’s a long season, and we still have like 89% of it left to catch up. See ya soon.
