Jeff Rice of Lions 247 was the <a href=\"http:\/\/pennstate.247sports.com\/Bolt\/Nittany-Lions-issue-final-decision-on-Wilkerson-45040008\">first to report the news<\/a> of the dismissal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Brent Wilkerson is no longer a member of the Penn State football team due to a violation of team rules,&#8221; a statement from Penn State said Tuesday. &#8220;We appreciate Brent&#8217;s contributions to the program and wish him success in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Penn State previously suspended Wilkerson from the program months ago after the senior was charged for indecent assault and harassment for an incident that took place in February. His dismissal hardly comes as a surprise given some of the details previously reported from the incident in question. From Lions 247;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>According to police documents, the woman drove Wilkerson and his friend home from the bars early that morning. He then fell asleep on the woman\u2019s bed. She awoke later to find Wilkerson making unwanted advances. She reported the incident to police the next day. Wilkerson later told police that his actions were wrong. \u201cAfter a couple &#8216;No&#8217;s&#8217; I should have left after the first <\/em>&#8216;No,\u2019<em>\u201d he said, according to documents.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wilkerson was Penn State&#8217;s only senior tight end on scholarship, so one scholarship spot is now freed up as a result. That can come in handy for the Class of 2017, right? Penn State now has four tight ends on scholarship for 2016, including Mike Gesicki and freshmen Nick Bowers, Jonathan Holland and Danny Dalton. Gesicki was Penn State&#8217;s second-leading tight end in terms of receiving yards, behind only NFL-bound Kyle Carter, with 13 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.
