There was a time when this team was multiple games back from first place in the <a href=\"\/mlb\/\">American League Central<\/a> and there were plenty of questions about what they were going to be able to do in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for Chicago, they&#8217;ve managed to turn it around and now sit at 61-56 and are only one game behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians in the division.<\/p>\n<h2>White Sox Might Be Back<\/h2>\n<p>Plenty of the White Sox players had stuff to say, according to MLB.com:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"Styles__StoryPartContainer-sc-1mfrmm0-0 fIFA-db story-part markdown\">\n<div class=\"Styles__MarkdownContainer-dxqlie-0 btBTea\">\n<p>\u201cGet him in the zone. The main thing. First and second, I want to get the ball in the air,\u201d Sheets said of his thought process as he stepped in for Lenyn Sosa. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to hit something on the ground and get a double play.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"Styles__StoryPartContainer-sc-1mfrmm0-0 fIFA-db story-part markdown\">\n<div class=\"Styles__MarkdownContainer-dxqlie-0 btBTea\">\u201cHe went to the breaking ball, and my main thought was get something in the air and get something in the strike zone. I was able to do that, and I was just hoping Seby was going to score.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s a different kind of pat on the back, five innings, he gutted it out,\u201d La Russa said. \u201cHe threw a lot of pitches because he wasn\u2019t sharp and they\u2019re good. I\u2019ll remember this one when I think about him a long time because [it could have been], \u2018Man, it\u2019s not my day.\u2019 That\u2019s not what he did.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI was disappointed. It wasn\u2019t my sharpest outing,\u201d said Cease, who threw 93 pitches. \u201cBut it was close enough to keep us in it, and everybody else picked me up. Getting the win definitely helps.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>Verlander wasn&#8217;t too happy with how he pitched, according to MLB.com:<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter top of the order, bottom of the order, middle of the order, I don\u2019t like giving up runs, especially in that situation late like that,\u201d Verlander said. \u201cNot happy about it.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>Chicago is going to have a difficult task on hand for the next two games as they will continue taking on arguably the best team in all of baseball, the Houston Astros.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0The Chicago White Sox started off the season as arguably the most disappointing team in all of baseball.
