{"id":230362,"date":"2008-12-08T05:47:03","date_gmt":"2008-12-08T05:47:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vip.local\/2008\/12\/08\/breaking-news-wolves-close-to-firing-wittman\/"},"modified":"2008-12-08T05:47:03","modified_gmt":"2008-12-08T05:47:03","slug":"breaking-news-wolves-close-to-firing-wittman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesportsdaily.com\/news\/breaking-news-wolves-close-to-firing-wittman\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS:  Wolves Close To Firing Wittman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sports.espn.go.com\/nba\/news\/story?id=3753352\">Marc Stein\/ESPN:<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the brink of firing Randy Wittman after Saturday night&#8217;s 23-point home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to NBA coaching sources.<\/p>\n<p>But Wolves owner Glen Taylor, sources say, wants Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale to agree to take Wittman&#8217;s place on the bench before going ahead with a coaching change. <\/p>\n<p>Yet it&#8217;s believed that McHale is resistant to coaching again, even on an interim basis, despite the fact that Minnesota&#8217;s much-maligned vice president of basketball operations has been successful as an interim coach before&#8230;It would appear that Minnesota&#8217;s in-house options for replacing Wittman would appear to be limited if McHale declines to return to the bench, but sources say another possibility is general manager Jim Stack, who has expressed interest in coaching in the past. <\/p>\n<p><\/em><strong>College Wolf Muses: <\/strong>I guess I could live with McHale coaching, only because he wasn&#8217;t <em>terrible<\/em> in his first go around.\u00a0 At least I&#8217;d like to believe he&#8217;d do a decent job of developing Kevin Love.\u00a0 But Jim Stack???\u00a0 That would be a disaster.\u00a0 What does he know about coaching?\u00a0 I have given up hope that Taylor will bring in an actual NBA coach like Avery Johnson, Jeff Van Gundy, Flip Saunders, Sam Mitchell, etc&#8230; because there is no way he pays a <strong>THIRD<\/strong> person to coach the Wolves for this season (Casey, Wittman, and new guy.)\u00a0 I 100% guarantee the new coach would be McHale or some other assistant\/Front Office person.\u00a0 This should be interesting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Marc Stein\/ESPN: The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the brink of firing Randy Wittman after Saturday night&#8217;s 23-point home loss&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[605037453],"tags":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v22.2 (Yoast SEO v22.2) -
