After losing out on Josh Smith,\u00a0the Miami Heat are reportedly looking to add size to their lineup in Andray Blatche.<\/p>\n
It has been reported by ESPN NBA insider, Mark Stein that the Heat have serious interest in Blatche, but there is only one problem, Blatche currently plays in China.<\/p>\n
This means the earliest the Heat can obtain Blatche would be when his season overseas ends, which at the earliest is February.<\/p>\n
It’s a desperate move for the Heat, who are looking to add another big body in the worst way.<\/p>\n
Taking Chris Bosh out of the equation, the Heat don’t have a quality scoring big man on their roster. They do have Shawne Willams, but he is a very inconsistent option. Chris Anderson and Udonis Haslem are role players, sent into the game to protect the basket.<\/p>\n
Blatche, over a nine-year career, has averaged 10.1 points a game. His highest-scoring total coming during the 2010-11 season where he averaged 16.8 points for the Washington Wizards. During that season, Blatche started 63 of the possible 82 games for the Wizards.<\/p>\n
Last season, while playing with the Brooklyn Nets, Blatche scored only 11.2 points a contest, but was used mostly in a reserve role, only starting seven games. A role with Miami could mean Blatche once again regains his starter status, as he will likely team with Bosh to be the team’s starting frontcourt.<\/p>\n
It is unknown if the Heat are looking to make a more immediate addition to their roster, but they will certainly be reaching out to Blatche as they look to make a run to the playoffs.<\/p>\n
