Trey Smith made Butch Jones’ season a whole lot better by committing to the Tennessee Volunteers football team. Smith, ranked the #1 recruit in the 2017 football class, is a 6’6”, 299-pound offensive tackle from Jackson, Tennessee. Smith had a bucket of schools to pick from including Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Ohio State.<\/p>\n

The result of Smith committing to his in-state school could be that other top recruits will follow. However, the Volunteers lost a few verbal commitments after an extremely disappointing season. One thing is certain; Butch Jones is a helluva recruiter. The expectation is that Jones and the Volunteers will pick up one or two more big name recruits before signing day hits.<\/p>\n
