Led by Victor Hedman<\/a>‘s three assists and Brayden Point<\/a>‘s pair of goals, The Tampa Bay Lightning stayed mathematically alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 last night.<\/p>\n Andrei Vasilevskiy<\/a> stopped 26 shots and Nikita Kucherov<\/a> and Michael Bournival<\/a> also scored for the Lightning.<\/p>\n Nazem Kadri<\/a> scored the only goal for Toronto.<\/p>\n The scoreless first period was a fun filled physical one that was dominated by the Lightning early on. \u00a0They were outshooting Toronto 7-2 at one point and shots ended up 13-11 Tampa Bay after 20 minutes. The Lightning outhit the Leafs 16-4, but again were outclassed in the faceoff circle 17-7.<\/p>\n Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy<\/a> played well making some big saves while being shorthanded.<\/p>\n[protected-iframe id=”1ad9a324196a1821c4bcdc1cb5731011-114320562-46289989″ info=”https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/video\/embed\/vasilevskiy-robs-kadri-with-pad\/t-283476724\/c-51171803?autostart=false” width=”540″ height=”360″]\n The second period started with the Bolts killing off a Braydon Coburn<\/a> penalty and then Coburn and Matt Martin<\/a> dropping the gloves because he pushed Auston Matthews<\/a> \u00a0into the net.<\/p>\n With Roman Polak<\/a> in the penalty box, the Lightning took a 1-0 lead on a Brayden Point<\/a> one-timer power play goal off a nice feed by Ondrej Palat<\/a> at 7:34. Point’s 15th goal was assisted by Palat (33) and Victor Hedman<\/a> (53). Victor Hedman<\/a> (54) assisted on the goal. The Lightning also led in hits 24-17. The Bolts had only won 36% of their faceoffs.<\/p>\n The Bolts went up 3-1 at the two minute mark of the third period when Michael Bournival<\/a> scored his second of the year from Andrej Sustr<\/a> (11) and Victor Hedman<\/a> (55). The assist was Sustr’s third in the last five games.
