{"id":666568,"date":"2017-05-08T05:22:48","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T09:22:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesportsdaily.com\/?p=666568"},"modified":"2017-05-08T05:22:48","modified_gmt":"2017-05-08T09:22:48","slug":"the-national-league-is-currently-updside-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesportsdaily.com\/news\/the-national-league-is-currently-updside-down\/","title":{"rendered":"The National League Is Currently Updside Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Raise your hand if you had the Reds in first place in the NL Central on May 8th.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone?<\/p>\n<p>Ok, how about the Cubs in third place?<\/p>\n<p>No?<\/p>\n<p>Five weeks through the MLB season this is where the division stands:<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The National League Is Currently Updside Down\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-666571\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.usatodaysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/2017\/05\/5817.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"186\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The following things are also true about the National League writ large:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rockies are 20-12 and lead the NL West by 2.5 games<\/li>\n<li>Giants are 10 games below.500 + have the worst winning % in the NL<\/li>\n<li>Cubs are 7-9 in Wrigley Field after going 57-24 there in 2016<\/li>\n<li>Mets, are, um, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=ny+mets&amp;oq=ny+mets&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57.855j0j4&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8#q=ny+mets&amp;tbm=nws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">having an interesting season<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Graphic above is not Photoshopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some media outlets <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/blog\/new-york\/yankees\/post\/_\/id\/96188\/these-yankees-and-cubs-destined-to-meet-in-a-world-series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">aren&#8217;t convinced<\/a> that the NL is truly unzipped, though.<\/p>\n<p>The pawns haven&#8217;t discovered their lot in life, they say. The Cubs have a standing offer to the fall classic &#8211; just need to find a date.
