(If\u00a0you like fancy graphs with linear numbers, click <a href=\"http:\/\/stats.nba.com\/player\/#!\/201568\/traditional\/?Season=2016-17&amp;SeasonType=Regular%20Season&amp;OpponentTeamID=1610612750\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Anyways. Onto my point.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re going to remember anything from this article, Thibs, remember this: the Timberwolves have nothing to lose by pursuing him.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a long shot, I know that, but why not give it a shot?<\/p>\n<p>Yeah Thibs, I know we don&#8217;t need <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gallida01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Danilo Gallinari<\/a>. We have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wiggian01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Andrew Wiggins<\/a>.\u00a0We have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/townska01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Karl-Anthony Towns<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>We even have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dienggo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gorgui Dieng<\/a>. Last season, he averaged 7.9 RPG.<\/p>\n<p>(Danilo, on the other hand, averaged 5.2 RPG)<\/p>\n<p>You could break down Gorgui&#8217;s ORB and DRB, and compare them to Danilo, but you probably know this already: Gorgui is the superior defensive player.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe that&#8217;s why you signed him to an extension? Maybe you saw something that we the fans didn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>I know, you&#8212;the &#8216;experts&#8217; in the Timberwolves blogosphere, those who write for other outlets&#8212;might be thinking, &#8220;Well, David you&#8217;re nuts for suggesting Danilo is a fit for the Wolves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Wolves do have bigger fishes to fry, yes. Like locking up Zach Lavine, Towns and Wiggins&#8212;the Timberpups of the future (I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2017\/05\/five-key-offseason-questions-minnesota-timberwolves.html\">agree<\/a> with you, Dana Gauruder from hoops rumors).<\/p>\n<p>But for us fans, well we&#8217;re not the President of Basketball Operations. We&#8217;re not negotiating contract extensions with the players on the rosters.<\/p>\n<p>And often, we can&#8217;t tell if the players on our team would want to sign extensions.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know the office politics that stays in the front office, which is the point. We&#8217;re just fans, apparently the fifth most <a href=\"http:\/\/harvardsportsanalysis.org\/2017\/05\/which-nba-team-has-the-most-loyal-fans\/\">loyal<\/a>\u00a0fans in the NBA.<\/p>\n<p>All we could do is postulate (like right now). And postulate we must!<\/p>\n<p>But before you postulate further, take a break. And when you are examining soon-to-be free agents, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rosede01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Derrick Rose<\/a>, you will consider all of your options.<\/p>\n<p>This will include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gallida01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Danilo Gallinari<\/a>, or maybe not.<\/p>\n<p>But if you took a few glances at him&#8212;maybe you looked at his player option and said, &#8220;I&#8217;ll pass. He&#8217;s going to demand more in the open market&#8221;&#8212;hey, You did pursue him, right? haha.<\/p>\n<p>You pursued him for just a little bit.
