Baseball players appearing on television shows is nothing new for Major Leaguers\u2026past or present.<\/p>\n
And while they can\u2019t all be recruited to play outfield for the Springfield Isotopes (\u201cit\u2019s like there\u2019s a party in my mouth\u2026and everyone\u2019s invited\u201d<\/a><\/strong>) or pitch soap for Zest<\/a><\/strong>, some do bit roles on television shows.<\/p>\n One of the first times I remember seeing a former big leaguer playing himself on TV was when Hall of Famer skipper Leo Durocher<\/a><\/strong> had a chance encounter with the hard throwing Jethro Bodine on \u201cThe Beverly Hillbillies\u201d.<\/p>\n But my favorite involved Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammell.<\/p>\n
