When the Patriots released who was going to be on the Podium for last night’s NFL Media Day we were all surprised that Martellus Bennett would not be on the podium but instead be on the floor wondering around Minute Maid Park.<\/p>\n
The Patriots elected to have\u00a0Bill Belichick, Tom Brady,\u00a0Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, Matthew Slater, Dont\u2019a Hightower, Devin McCourty, Rob Ninkovich, Dion Lewis, Nate Solder, and Chris Long all on the podium. Leaving Martellus Bennett with the rest of the team on the floor.<\/p>\n
This was surprising\u00a0to all as Bennett killed the AFC Championship celebration\u00a0when he started dancing with Patriots\u00a0Cheerleaders to\u00a0Whitney Houston’s I Want to dance with somebody.<\/p>\n
When asked about not being on the podium Bennett responded by saying\u00a0“I guess they needed to spread the awesomeness around.”<\/p>\n
Bennett also touched on many other topics as put below.<\/p>\n
Bennett on having personality\u00a0well playing in the NFL:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n “Other players are too worried about their personal brands… Our identities become sports… I’m from Texas \u2014 I was the No. 1 football player in Texas… but if you start to believe that’s who you are, you’ll never go on that personal journey of figuring out what you represent and who you are.<\/p>\n Then you’ll only care about what everybody else said because everyone else told you who were.<\/p>\n If you don’t know your personal worth, someone else will put you on the clearance rack.<\/p>\n Bennett on Lady Gaga doing the Halftime show:<\/strong><\/p>\n I love Lady Gaga. I liked her first album, and I liked how she wore that meat dress. Anyone who goes out there wearing a meat dress is cool with me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Bennett on Rob Gronkowski:<\/strong><\/p>\n It was like when Batman got his own solo movie and Robin wasn\u2019t in it. I always liked the movies with Batman and Robin in it. Like the new Lego movie that will have Batman and Robin in it. It comes out February 10th. I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u00a0It\u2019s on my calendar.<\/p>\n Bennett on fans paying attending NFL Opening night:<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s weird that there are people here watching this. You can sell anything. There are people in the stands. Go home and watch this on TV!<\/p>\n This is almost as good as Danny Amendola on Patriots fans, when he said: \u201cPatriots Nation is loud, they have sick accents, they drink a lot of Dunkin’ coffee, and they\u2019re awesome.”<\/p>\n So the real question is why didn’t Bennett get a podium last night?
