The Revolution were short Kelyn Rowe as he was playing internationally and Diego Fagundez as he was serving a one-game suspension. With the Revs missing two major parts of their roster it was incredibly hard for them to get anything going, The Philadelphia Union was all over the Revs beating them 3 to 0 Sunday night.<\/p>\n
The Revs were not just short Rowe and Fagundez as a total of six players were missing due to international games, injuries, or suspensions. Unfortunately, the Revs would let this opportunity\u00a0slip away and they would not be able to pass the Philadelphia Union in the standings tonight.<\/p>\n
Philadelphia got the scoring going early after Revolution defender was called for a handball in the box giving Philadelphia a penalty kick. C.J. Sapong would convert on that penalty kick and four minutes\u00a0into the game the Union was up 1-0 and they would not look back.<\/p>\n
llsinho\u00a0scored for the Union in the 48th minute and Ronald Alberg would put the icing on the cake making it 3-0 in the 78th minute.<\/p>\n
\u201cOpportunities (were there) for guys to step up,\u201d said head coach Jay Heaps. \u201cThere\u2019s going to be no excuses from our end.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI just think too many guys weren\u2019t up for the challenge,\u201d added midfielder Donnie Smith. \u201cThat was one of the keys that we talked about before the game; we\u2019ve got to win the battle before we can play the game. There were too many pieces, and we just didn\u2019t win the battle individually.\u201d<\/p>\n
With this loss, the Revolution are still struggling to find their first road win of the season as they are now 0-7-3 away from Gillette Stadium. Overall with this loss the Revolution fall to 10th place at 5-8-5.<\/p>\n
For the Philadelphia Union, they will pass the Revolution in the East and will sit in 8th place at 6-7-4.<\/p>\n
