{"id":791055,"date":"2018-02-01T19:27:11","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T00:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesportsdaily.com\/?p=791055"},"modified":"2022-01-08T03:47:26","modified_gmt":"2022-01-08T07:47:26","slug":"report-islanders-wont-trade-john-tavares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesportsdaily.com\/news\/report-islanders-wont-trade-john-tavares\/","title":{"rendered":"REPORT: Islanders won&#8217;t trade John Tavares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Islanders have no plans of trading star forward John Tavares.<\/p>\n<p>That was the message (literally) that general manager Garth Snow gave to The Athletic&#8217;s Pierre LeBrun.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m not trading John Tavares,\u2019\u2019 he told the outlet via text message.<\/p>\n<p>Tavares is in the final year of his contract and still has not committed to re-signing with the Islanders. The Islanders captain has repeatedly said that he would like to remain with the Islanders during the months leading up to and during the course of this season.<\/p>\n<p>It was believed\u00a0that where the Islanders played in the upcoming seasons would have a significant impact on his decision to re-sign, but he publically appeared no closer to a decision following the team&#8217;s Belmont announcement in December. He told reporters on Monday that everything on and off the ice would\u00a0play into his decision to stay with the Islanders.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don\u2019t think my thought process has really changed,&#8221; Tavares said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/sports\/hockey\/islanders\/islanders-nassau-coliseum-tavares-weight-1.16429457\">via Newsday<\/a>. &#8220;Anything that involves playing hockey and my daily life away from the rink is going to be factored into my decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Islanders have no plans of trading star forward John Tavares.
