Thomas Robinson continues to display a high level of energy while on the court. \u00a0<\/strong>He believes that its his role to irritate the opposition with his intensity.<\/p>\n “I think that’s my whole job – to annoy the other guy to the point that he just doesn’t want to check me no more,” the rookie forward said following practice.<\/p>\n He doesn’t get distracted when opposing players voice their frustration with his style of play.\u00a0 The Kansas forward says he just continues to play his game.<\/p>\n “It’s really not my job to care what they think or say,” Robinson said stoically. “That’s something they gotta deal with.”<\/p>\n Who will start Monday’s game versus the Portland Trail Blazers?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Head Coach Keith Smart<\/a><\/strong> wouldn’t reveal his lineup following Saturday’s practice, but suggested that he’s going with a different look.<\/p>\n With his starting five in flux, there seems to be a sense that players are trying to show different or new skills this season.\u00a0 Kings guard Marcus Thornton<\/a><\/strong> for example has shown an improved willingness to pass – a facet of his game that’s been a surprise thus far.\u00a0 Does Smart think players are developing new abilities in order to earn consistent minutes on the floor?<\/p>\n “We have so many guys who can play multiple positions,” said the Kings’ head coach.\u00a0 “They have to be able to do other things in those positions also.<\/p>\n “We’re looking from the ground up,” Smart added.\u00a0 “We didn’t have a good season last year.\u00a0 So, we’re looking for guys (and) how they fit and how hard they play together on offense and defense…”<\/p>\n A few players suffered some minor bumps and dings in practice today.<\/strong>\u00a0 Near the tail end of the scrimmage session, Thornton turned an ankle while trying to drive past teammate Francisco Garcia<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Thornton was able to walk it off and went into treatment following practice.<\/p>\n “He actually just planted and landed the wrong way,” Smart told media.\u00a0 “I think he’ll be okay.\u00a0 We’ll see how he evaluates later on.”<\/p>\n Travis Outlaw<\/a><\/strong> had a noticeably large bandage on his forehead, right above his left eyebrow.\u00a0 He said he was fine and just caught the wrong side of teammate Jason Thompson<\/a><\/strong>‘s elbow.\u00a0 These are just the kinds of minor bumps and bruises players experience throughout an NBA season.<\/p>\n Final notes and observations: <\/strong>Spirits are high right now for the Kings.\u00a0 More players are spending extra time on the court following the conclusion of practice to work on shooting, ball-handling or other skills with coaches.<\/p>\n And lastly, Tyler Honeycutt<\/a><\/strong> shot jumpers while teammates practiced. \u00a0He’s still limited in action due to the stress fracture he suffered in his right fibula<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Quick news and notes following Kings’ Saturday afternoon practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[610259261],"tags":[610259059,4764763,76563,7161141,610259707,610259547],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
