the previous was 119 in Dallas just six days ago. \u00a0With the loss, Sacramento falls to 7-16 overall and 6-7 at home.<\/p>\n<h2>Notes and Analysis<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>This was more of a Denver Nuggets&#8217; dunk-line than a basketball game today in Sacramento.\u00a0 <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcgeeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">JaVale  McGee<\/a><\/strong> put up one highlight reel dunk after another on his way to a 19-point, five-rebound, three-block performance.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure that the Kings blocked him out even once during his 21 minutes of action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/couside01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">DeMarcus  Cousins<\/a><\/strong> posted a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double, but like most of his teammates, he was a non-factor on the defensive end.\u00a0 He also picked up another technical foul in the first quarter, while coming to the aid of teammate <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brookaa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Aaron  Brooks<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 I would be shocked if the NBA doesn&#8217;t rescind that one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thompja02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Jason  Thompson<\/a><\/strong> continued his consistent play, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for a second Kings&#8217; double-double.\u00a0 Seven of Thompson&#8217;s rebounds came on the offensive end as both he and Cousins crashed the offensive glass early.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Although most of his points came in garbage time, <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thomais02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Isaiah  Thomas<\/a><\/strong> scored 20 off the Kings&#8217; bench in the loss.\u00a0 Thomas did most of his damage from the free-throw line where he made 13 of his 15 attempts.\u00a0 He added a team-high four assists, but also turned the ball over four times. \u00a0Brooks should be hearing footsteps right about now, because IT is ready to steal his minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/f\/fredeji01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Jimmer  Fredette<\/a><\/strong> played almost 19 minutes in the second half, scoring 10 points on 4-for-9 shooting.\u00a0 He looked a little timid or maybe he was trying to set up his teammates too much, but the fans were yelling for him to shoot and they were right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Kings finished the game with 13 total assists on the night.\u00a0 They didn&#8217;t make shots and they played way too much one-on-one ball.\u00a0 The Nuggets&#8217; starting backcourt combined for 15 \u00a0of their 27 total assists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stat of the Night:\u00a0<\/strong>The Nuggets outscored the Kings 64 to 38 in points in the paint.\u00a0 Of course they also out-shot the Kings 54 percent to 34 percent and out-rebounded the Kings 52 to 42.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align:right;\"><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><em>&#8211; James Ham<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<h2>Three answers to <a title=\"Game 23 Preview: Sacramento Kings vs. Denver Nuggets\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cowbellkingdom.com\/2012\/12\/16\/game-23-preview-sacramento-kings-vs-denver-nuggets\/\" target=\"_blank\">three questions pondered<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Will the Kings be able to limit their turnovers?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong> Holding onto the ball wasn&#8217;t much of a problem for the Kings today, but sharing it was. \u00a0Sacramento dished out only 13 assists, which matched a season-low for a third time this season. \u00a0By comparison, the Nuggets recorded 27 assists. \u00a0During pregame, <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/smartke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Keith  Smart<\/a><\/strong> said ball movement would be critical for the Kings to get a win today. \u00a0Apparently, his team didn&#8217;t get the memo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Can the Kings play from ahead for a change?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Once again, the Kings played from behind to start the game. \u00a0The Kings scored just eight points in the first eight minutes of the contest and would trail the Nuggets by as many as 19 points in the first half. \u00a0After the first two periods, the Kings found themselves in a 64-46 hole at intermission. \u00a0That deficit would grow even deeper following halftime as the Nuggets&#8217; lead ballooned to 34 points. \u00a0With today&#8217;s latest loss, the Kings are now 1-15 in games where they trail the opposition at halftime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Which team wins the battle on the glass?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Just like their lead, the Nuggets&#8217; edge in the battle of the boards inflated after intermission. \u00a0At halftime, Denver held just a 24 to 21 lead in rebounds. \u00a0By the end of the game, the Nuggets had won that category handedly, out-rebounding the Nuggets 52 to 42. \u00a0Denver was especially strong controlling the defensive glass, where they beat the Kings by a 35 to 21 margin. \u00a0With no one player grabbing double-digit rebounds, it was a total team effort by the Nuggets on the boards today. \u00a0<strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/f\/farieke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Kenneth  Faried<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lawsoty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.cowbellkingdom.com\">Ty  Lawson<\/a><\/strong> led Denver with eight rebounds a piece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;\"><em style=\"text-align:right;\">&#8211; Jonathan Santiago<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Quotes of the Game<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Keith  Smart trying to explain why the Kings didn&#8217;t start the game with any energy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I told the guys the other day that this is going to be a weird thing for you.\u00a0 So you&#8217;re going to need to do all that you need to do to get yourself ready because you&#8217;re coming back in (to Sacramento).\u00a0 Denver &#8211; the same way, an early game at 3 o&#8217;clock, but coming back from the east coast you have to do some things to get yourself moving and ready to go.\u00a0 You are going to have to have the energy to start the game off and obviously we didn&#8217;t have that to start the game off.\u00a0 Guys may have done some things, but it wasn&#8217;t what you needed.<\/p>\n<p>This team, we knew would come out fast and the first half, they (scored more than) 51 points, and so they&#8217;re going to put the hammer down real quick in the basketball game.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t have the force to be able to push the tempo.\u00a0 And again, when you miss a lot of wide-open shots, you can&#8217;t break \u00a0runs.\u00a0 You just can&#8217;t.\u00a0 Every time you do the right things to get a wide open shot or get an easy basket near the bucket &#8211;
