Change is nothing new for Jason Thompson. In five NBA seasons, the Sacramento Kings power forward has seen his fair share of coaches come and go in the capital city.

But as a new era of Kings basketball begins, more than coaching has changed in Sacramento ahead of Thompson’s sixth season in the league. A new ownership group and front office team are also breathing fresh air into this revamped franchise.

The 27-year-old veteran finally got to spend time with some of the new folks in charge when he visited Las Vegas during summer league last month, including Vivek Ranadivé.

“Well he’s definitely a people person,” Thompson said to Cowbell Kingdom of the Kings new majority owner at his first annual Sacramento youth basketball camp last week. “You don’t ever want to judge a book by its cover. You hear all the he-said-she-said type of stuff. But he’s a guy that tells his stuff up front, he always has an open mind and (is) open for new ideas.”

In the video below, Thompson offers more of his take on the Kings’ new regime, including getting to know Michael Malone and his coaching staff.

[youtube id=”e01kxGhkjRY” width=”600″ height=”350″]
