Three things to ponder

1. Point guard play

At New Orleans last Friday, Ray McCallum and Andre Miller combined for six points, five assists and four turnovers. Tyreke Evans alone notched 25 points, 10 assists and three turnovers. It goes without saying the Kings need their point guard tandem to step up on both ends of the floor.

2. Bench assistance

Sacramento’s bench was outscored 29-12 in that loss to the Pelicans. Missing Rudy Gay (concussion) stretches an already thin group, but the same argument can be made for New Orleans’ second unit and injury woes. Unlucky for the Kings, reserve sharpshooter Ryan Anderson (knee) is expected to play after returning Wednesday from an 18-game absence.

3. Live and die by the 3

In two losses to the Pelicans this season, the Kings surrendered a total 18 3-pointers, while in their November 25 victory Sacramento held New Orleans to 3-of-17 triples. Daring the Pelicans to take open looks from downtown is not a recipe for a success.
