A lively audience, positive energy and flying drones were all present today at a historic Sacramento event- the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Golden 1 Center.<\/p>\n
Sitting on stage were key city officials amongst the Sacramento Kings ownership. Scott Moak, also known as the voice of the Kings, was the master of ceremonies.<\/p>\n
David J. Stern, former NBA commissioner, was a special guest at this event. Stern was commended for his efforts to bring and help keep basketball in Sacramento. The address of the Golden 1 Center is named in his honor, 500 David J. Stern, and he was gifted a street sign at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Kings owner, Vivek Ranadive, also took the stage to thank everyone for their efforts in building the new arena. He stated that a few years ago he was able to mention the most magical words ever, \u201cThis is your team, and it\u2019s here to stay, and today, this is your new home.\u201d<\/p>\n
New Era of Proud<\/h3>\n
A strong message of this ribbon cutting ceremony was that all this is for the Sacramento Kings fans, because without their tremendous support, it would not have been possible.<\/p>\n
Chris Granger, president of the Sacramento Kings, mentioned that the Golden 1 Center represents the greatest come from behind victory in the NBA and proclaims it as potentially one of the best buildings in the world.<\/p>\n
One of the keynote speakers, Mayor Kevin Johnson, gave a heartfelt speech about what basketball means to the city: “Today is the latest milestone along the most improbable journey, nobody thought we would be here, this moment was not supposed to happen. It was the longest of long shots, but we as a community rose to the occasion for one of the greatest comeback for the ages.”<\/p>\n
