Today, Ole Miss announced the details concerning its spring football game and the fan-friendly activities surrounding it. Activities of note include a panel discussion led by Eli Manning (#OLEMISSSUPERBOWLCHAMPIONSHIP) that will involve other former Ole Miss players who are currently in the NFL, and a free Friday night concert in the Grove featuring Gavin DeGraw (at least it’s not Sugarland, AMIRITE, State fans?; #SHITTYBANDCHAMPIONSHIP).
What’s different about this year’s spring game weekend is that the weekend will be used as a springboard for a Hugh Freeze barnstorming tour that will take him all over Mississippi, as well as to Birmingham, Nashville, and Memphis. While speaking at these various places, Freeze will attempt to get the Rebel faithful excited about the upcoming season, which should temporarily distract us from thinking about our lack of offensive linemen, running backs, defensive backs, linebackers, and good players in general.
I recall Dan Mullen doing something like this either last summer or maybe the summer before that. Or maybe both. Who knows. But, what I do remember is that he rode in an RV to visit various towns and cities. I assume the Ole Miss caravan will be something similar (#COPYCATCHAMPIONSHIP) to that. If Ole Miss does indeed use the RV to transport Freeze to spread the gospel of hope to Ole Miss fans, it better have this on the side of it or I don’t know what the point of this is.
