Ahmad Bradshaw, David Baas and Hakeem Nicks are all ruled out for the game with the Patriots. None of them will make the trip up to New England. Jason Pierre-Paul is a gametime decision. Prince Amukamara made the trip.
Sunday morning I am en route to Texas and will miss Phil Simms on WFAN. He usually comes on at 945AM, so if you link up to their site at ~943AM you rate to hear his comments before today’s games.
Simms was on Showtime and talked up the Giants-Pats earlier this week. Remember that Simms saw the Giants 2 games ago vs the Bills and he saw the Patriots just a week ago vs the Steelers. So his observations for this game are more meaningful…
Simms: “I’ll tell you this, I think Eli Manning is throwing the football as well as any QB in the league. I’ll put him right up there with Phillip Rivers right now. When it comes out of their hand, it is a perfect spiral and it is right on target. I like a lot of things about the Giants, but I’m just not going to go against the Patriots… the loss.. even though the defense had a bad game, I understand that, but the one thing that stood out for me when I watched the Patriots last week, they really played hard even though it never went their way.”
Final thoughts before the game- Yes, Paddle, the injuries are becoming so numerous that even if everything goes well, one of the subs will have a lapse. At this point, we just have to see the Gmen fight through it and play 60 minutes with good schemes. The loss of Baas is big because whatever cohesiveness the OL was putting together gets put back on hold again. The loss of Nicks is the biggest, because now you lose the three-headed monster of Cruz-Manningham-Nicks to spread out the vulnerable defense. Gilbride must still spread them out.
