New York Giants schedule preview

Even though the New York Giants have missed the playoffs five of the past six seasons, optimism for Eli Manning and the offense are high due to a certain wide receiver they drafted 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Odell Beckham Jr. exploded onto the national scene for all the right reasons in 2014. After a delayed start to the season due to injury, Beckham Jr. earned the NFL Rookie of the Year award with 91 receptions for 1,305 yard and 12 touchdowns in only 12 games played.

But some of the plays he made weren’t your run of the mill slants, curls and post patterns. Beckham Jr.’s displayed athleticism that captured America’s attention, including perhaps one of the best catches in NFL history against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ben McAdoo has plenty of tools at his disposal for his second year as offensive coordinator, as Victor Cruz will return from a season-ending injury to pair up with Beckham Jr. It’s a big year for Manning and head coach Tom Coughlin as a duo, as the patience of the fans has been tested with the lack of recent success after some major Super Bowl victories.

Aside from the six division games the Giants will play at home and on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins, the rest of their schedule consists of teams from the NFC South, AFC East, NFC West and NFC North.

At home, the Giants play: Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants will go on the road to play the: New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and the Minnesota Vikings.

Including the Dallas Cowboys from their conference schedule, the Giants only have three games against teams who made the playoffs last season. If the offense matures under McAdoo, the Giants will have a great chance to compete for the NFC East division crown.
