In an attempt to find a running game that cannot be best described as “second and 10”, Ole Miss is spending parts of its spring practice putting emphasis on at least getting something out of a rushing attempt. An ability to run makes offense much easier, which is good news for whomever replaces Bo Wallace at quarterback because that person does not have Dr. Bo’s experience in facing a quarter of a million third-and-longs behind a shaky offensive line.
Hugh Freeze says he doesn’t care how many yards are gained on a rushing attempt, he just wants zero runs that result in negative yardage. His name for such a run is a “dirty run”.
Where the idea for this name originated, I do not know (I have not thoroughly scanned all of the Old Testament prophets’ travels), but I can offer some insight on what is considered a dirty run.
