Aaron Wellman

Aaron Wellman has been hired as the new Strength & Conditioning Coach of the NY Giants. I need to spend time researching him to find out more about his philosophy, practices and priorities. I did an extremely cursory search and heard some comments made about strength. What specifically needs to be answered is- what is his approach to flexibility/range of motion. I keep on chuckling about the GPS trackers. It’s a helpful tool, but by itself it means nothing without knowing the effort that will be made for proper conditioning. 5 NY Giants players suffered pectoral muscle injuries in the past 2 years- I want to ask Mr. Wellman what his reaction to that is and how his program is going to prevent those (and other soft tissue) injuries from happening again. It’s interesting to note how since that linked October piece was written, Hankins was the 5th pectoral casualty. Think about that in terms of prevention and meaningful reduction of injuries. Remember that the Giants have now been underperforming their peers for 7 consecutive seasons. To imply that prevention (reduction) is not possible is naive. In coming weeks we will hopefully get more information about Wellman to see what he has done and what his plans are. If anyone has the time to dig on this, please paste links. Thanks for your patience.
