Former WWE and current ROH and NJWP star Cody Rhodes is one of professional wrestling’s hottest free agents, as his deal with ROH is set to expire at the end of 2018, making him available to sign wherever he wants.
Future possibilities for Rhodes also include him launching his own promotion with The Young Bucks, rumored to be called All Elite Wrestling. We reported earlier this month that Rhodes dropped a major hint at possibly moving forward with a new promotion when he attended a Jacksonville Jaguars NFL game and sat in a private VIP box. The Jaguars is owned by Shahid Khan, who is rumored to be a backer for Rhodes’ possible new promotion.
After making an appearance over the weekend in The UK, Cody Rhodes shed a bit more light on his pro wrestling future when he revealed in an interview with Something To Wrestle that he recently turned down an offer to return to WWE.
“I passed on the WWE offer a few weeks ago,” admitted Rhodes in the interview, h/t to WrestleTalk for the transcription.
[lawrence-related id=860561]Rhodes went on to hint at a possible All In 2 event, and even hinted at the second incarnation of the highly successful and universally praised All In event taking place in The UK or internationally.
Several months ago, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Hangman Page made the bold move of announcing they would decide their futures in pro wrestling as a group, and several months ago we noted that Hangman Page turned down an offer to sign with WWE, as the group had yet to decide where they would take their talents in 2019.
As of now, Kenny Omega remains the NJPW IWGP Heavyweight Champion and will next defend his title against Hiroshi Tanahashi at the Wrestle Kingdom 13 event taking place in January at the famed Tokyo Dome in Japan.
