It was a performance no one saw coming, especially after Alabama scored within the first two minutes. All it took was redshirt freshman quarterback Trevor Knight being possessed by the spirit of 2010 Stephen Garcia-versus-Alabama, throwing darts everywhere and dropping passes into five-gallon buckets 50 yards down the field.
And let's not leave out the Oklahoma defensive line, who, while not good against the run, dominated the Alabama offensive line on passing plays with its speed off the edge and timely blitzes. Their fine work, most notably in the second half, turned AJ McCarron into a quarterback who became an expert in protecting himself just before a sack to lessen the physical blow.
A fine end indeed to a magical season for Stoops and his Sooners. Now, enjoy the spoils of your victory, which should include a lofty 2014 preseason ranking and all the fried foods you can eat at the Texas State Fair.
