Washington Nationals (+15)
The Nationals are two-for-two when it comes to showing up on the good side of things from the vantage point of the pitcher’s mound. If they’d like to forget their disappointing 82-80 performance from 2018, seeing an uplift in production from the rotation and bullpen will certainly help.
This group is intriguing because of the hurlers Washington added over the offseason. One is Trevor Rosenthal, who brings a successful track record of being a closer, but he also missed all of 2018 due to rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.
The other is Kyle Barraclough, who Washington traded for before the offseason even officially started. He’s currently projected to rack up the third-most innings for the Nats, yet accumulate just 0.1 fWAR. That’d be an improvement from the -0.6 he produced in 2018, at least.
Here are a handful of trends he’d probably like to turn around with his new team.
A step in the right direction in these three departments will make him a huge asset to the Nats as they try to take back the National League East.
