First things first- we wish JPP a speedy recovery.
The parallels between JPP and Plaxico Burress are eerie.
Both:
- were stars when their incident occurred
- had self-inflicted non life-threatening wounds
- incidents occurred due to illegal activity
- stars showed a tremendous lack of judgment
- have questionable physical outcomes with a general pronouncement of being able to return to the game competitively at some point
- underwent the threat (and subsequent reality, in Plax’s case) of legal prosecution
- incidents had a cloud of questions in the quest to understand what exactly happened
- had maddening effects on the Giants administration
- stand to (possibly, in JPP’s case) lose many millions in lost income
- threaten to irreparably harm a Giants season
It is almost pointless to discuss this situation in too much length. The lack of information, even after 48+ hours of investigation, is almost as crazy as the incident itself. Is JPP’s agent trying to block the team from learning more about JPP’s health status? Questions beget questions. When more details become clear, we will tweet more, and post if there is something meaningful to discuss.
