As a result of “careless operation of a vehicle”, Giants rookie safety Chad Jones suffered serious injuries.
On Friday, around 6am CT in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chad Jones was involved in a ghastly single car accident. According to WWL-TV in New Orleans, Jones suffered multiple fractures to his left leg and shattered both his tibia and fibula, plus had arteries and nerves exposed in the crash. In the hope of saving his left leg, doctors worked for seven hours. Thankfully, according to his father Al Jones, Chad’s surgery was successful.
Although Jones’ surgery was successful, unfortunately for him and the Giants, Jones will most likely miss the entire 2010 season. And his NFL career could be in jeopardy. Giants’ vice president of communications Pat Hanlon released this statement about Jones:
“We continue to gather information on Chad’s condition, and obviously our primary concern is for his health and well-being,” the team said. “Jerry Reese and his staff have maintained contact with Chad’s family throughout the day.”
Let us hope Jones makes a speedy recovery.
