Ole Miss Uncovers Lost Defensive Back In Storage Room C

Keith'sIPA

Currently, Ole Miss’ top two corners, Charles Sawyer and Senquez Golson, are out with injuries.  Sawyer is recovering from ankle and shoulder issues, while Golson has been bothered by a hamstring that is either pulled or strained, but is allegedly not a serious concern (I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Snoop Brassell, who is no longer in school because of schoolin’ issues).

As a result, if the season started today (PRAISE LITTLE TINY BABY JESUS IT DOES NOT), the starting corners for Ole Miss would be Dehendret Collins and Quintavius Burdette.  Collins spent most of last year playing the Husky spot, while Burdette saw limited playing time at corner.

You would be correct in assuming this is not good news for Ole Miss, especially given their troubles with Vanderbilt’s top two wide receivers, Jordan Matthews and Chris Boyd, last year.  While Golson will most likely be back in time for the opener, Sawyer is more in the charcoal-gray to black-as-moonless-night area of being ready.

This, of course, has Ole Miss coaches concerned, which has led them to give everyone in the defensive backfield a look at corner.  They may have caught a break yesterday when a graduate assistant was rummaging around in Storage Room C and found a well-preserved defensive back buried under a pile of Chuck Driesbach’s old 4-2-5 playbooks.

While a team of scientists frantically try to get him ready for practice, graduate assistants are busy searching all the storage rooms for additional Driesbach 4-2-5 playbooks to toss into the incinerator at the Tad Pad, because the last thing this team needs is the football equivalent of the bubonic plague being released.

(By the way, if you haven’t seen the mummy picture, be prepared to FREAK OUT.)
