Week 5 JSAOAFQF Update

jevansneadleaderboard-2

While it doesn’t look like anyone will be making a run at Jevan Snead’s 17 interceptions in the 2009 regular season (20 counting the bowl game!), we are starting to see some separation. The high-volume passers and guys who are having to throw more than they should are leaving behind the quarterbacks who are not allowed to throw or no longer play because they once were allowed to throw.

With that in mind, barring a late charge out of the back of the back, our 2016 winner is mostly likely in the group of Josh Dobbs, Jacob Eason, Chad Kelly, Drew Lock, and Trevor Knight. I didn’t include Kyle Shurmur because once he throws a few more interceptions, Derek Mason will remove him and plug in another quarterback who is equally inept in generating offense.

Speaking of which, we welcome Vanderbilt’s Wade Freebeck and South Carolina’s Brandon McIlwain to the board this week.

Here’s a refresher on what we’re doing.

WEEK 5

FUN FACT: Dobbs has thrown six interceptions in five games so far, while throwing only five in 13 games last year. That comes out to an interception every 22.6 passes in 2016, as opposed to an interception every 68.8 passes in 2015.

WEEK 5 BOX SCORE POOP PASSING WINNER

If you’re unfamiliar with South Carolina’s roster, which should include 99% of everyone, Perry Orth and Brandon McIlwain are quarterbacks. The two gentlemen who completed 100% of their passes are punter Sean Kelly and tight end Hayden Hurst.

McIlwain, the starting quarterback, threw up a 5.8 QBR, which means we’re now on a THREE-WEEK STREAK where a starting quarterback in the SEC East did not break the 6.0 barrier in QBR. DARE TO DREAM OF FOUR STRAIGHT WEEKS.
