No quarterback in the history of the NFL has been better than Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in his first 100 games. Well at least statistically speaking.

In Detroit’s 20-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Stafford threw for 266 yards on 18-of-29 passing. The yardage gave him 27,890 passing yards through the first 100 games of his career. That mark is more than any other player in league history.

Stafford, who led the Lions on a last-second touchdown drive to win the game, was more excited about leading the come-from-behind victory after the game than the record.

“I expect to win every time I get the ball,” Stafford said. “It’s not always going to happen that way. You know, Tennessee, we had a chance and I didn’t make a play to win. But I expect to go out there and win. I believe in the guys that I’ve got in the huddle with me.”

“I think they believe in me, and this is NFL football, this happens. Just glad we made the plays.”

Ultimately Stafford had already set this record before ever playing a snap against the Redskins. He broke Dan Marino’s record of 26,961 passing yards in the 97th game of his career earlier this year against the Chicago Bears. He entered that game just 104 yards shy of the record, and finished the contest with 213. So every game since then has just been extra yards to the record.
