So have you ever wanted to walk into a room full of Met fans bragging about how big a fan they are and scream “HEY! I SPILLED MY BLOOD FOR THIS TEAM!!!”, well now here’s your chance.
The Mets will host their annual Winter Blood Drive for the New York Blood Center on Thursday, January 6th, 2011 in Citi Field’s Caesars Club from 10am to 5pm (Donors should enter through the Hodges VIP Entrance). Donors must be 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 lbs and be in good health. Each donor will receive a pair of tickets to a 2011 Mets home game during the month of April. Bring ID with photo or signature. Patrons may use parking lot G at the corner of 126th Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Call 1-800-933-BLOOD for more information.
And rumor has it that the Mets will use some of this blood to help in their attempt to re-animate Warren Spahn. In fact, Ken Rosenthal is reporting that if re-animated, Spahn would be grateful enough to accept a minor-league deal and spring training invite from the Mets rather than sign with the Pirates for more guaranteed money. So give blood and potentially help your team. Your blood could make a difference (yes even in real life and not just in the realm of my lame jokes … I mean really, a blood drive and I gotta be joke guy? I suck at scruples.)
