Harris. Turner. Beltran. Murphy. Pagan. Thole. Pridie. Tejada. Gee. This lineup scores seven runs.
Immediately after the game, David Wright added fifty pounds to his barbells. Ike Davis locked himself in a hyperbaric chamber. Jason Bay? He’s over there sobbing in the corner.
Lineups are overrated. Dillon Gee may not be. He suffered through another rough inning (the second this time, not the first as per usual), but mastered the other six like He-Man masters the universe with 8 K’s and no walks. And, he got 15 hits to back him up, and that included zero from leadoff hitter Willie Harris (leading off because Jose Reyes is on bereavement leave). But Harris’ two sparklers in the field were contribution enough as the Mets defeated the Pirates 7-2. And now Gee is 5-0. He can’t be stopped … not even by the Pirates.
I thought for sure Charlie Morton was chucking a no-no against that lineup. Just goes to show the world’s a much better place to live in when I’m wrong.
