Waiting For The End Is Unnecessary

I’m not going to sit here and pretend to know what is going on with Matt Harvey. Mechanics, pitch count, off field exploits … I really don’t care. Because it’s starting to get sickening now. I know this team isn’t really supposed to have an “ace” per say, but Harvey is the guy that started all this. He’s the guy that wants the ball in the big spot. And he seems to get it more than he doesn’t get it. Doesn’t matter that he’s struggling … you can struggle and still give your team a chance to win. Matt Harvey absolutely cannot go two and two thirds and give up nine runs against the freakin’ Nationals. I know he’s trying his best but so is everyone else.

And forget the errors. You’re an ace on your staff, you work through the errors. You bail your teammates out. Asdrubal Cabrera doesn’t make many errors, and he doesn’t want to make errors. But pitchers need to bear down and minimize that damage. Harvey isn’t doing that … he isn’t doing much of anything. So don’t anybody cry about errors when the pitcher can’t get anybody out. I only wish somebody had told me that Matt Harvey was going to be Matt Clement this year. I would have done something else with my summer.

And the nickel bleachers chime in. This is going to be a fun week for us. Have we heard from basketball guy Isola yet on this? Because it isn’t official until he gives us his hot take. And when he does, it’ll be nobody’s fault but Matt Harvey’s. Dammit.

Oh, and one more thing: Screw Mike Maddux. He pitched for the Mets in ’93 and ’94 and did absolutely nothing. Now I gotta hear about how he, as Nationals pitching coach, has turned around Gio Gonzalez and Stephen Strasburg and has made them either a superstar, or a bigger superstar than usual? Makes me want to shoot my ears out with a nail gun. Then shoot the rest of my body with the same nail gun and then set myself on fire so the nails can get really hot to give me that extra sensation of wanting to die a quicker death.

As it is, I’m going to settle for a stiff drink. Because dammit, I deserve one. We’ll get ’em tomorrow.
