The Wait Continues

You know that commercial where the guy goes out with his friends and leaves the dog home all alone, and he’s waiting and waiting and waiting? Thankfully, that had a happy ending. Mets fans, after waiting and waiting for this game to be played after last night’s rainout, waited and waited for that “Jon Niese Inning”, where he would get frustrated and give up a few big hits after some defensive lapses. Well that inning never happened. Partly because there were no defensive lapses because his defense is sooooooo much better now. (By the way, 35 errors for Pittsburgh to 25 for the Mets there, Jonny.)

But partly because the Mets’ lineup is in a wormhole of suck right now. Niese stole the show from Neil Walker’s heartwarming return to Pittsburgh by giving up four hits and two walks in seven innings … no runs … in a 3-1 Mets loss to the Pirates in Game 1 of their old style doubleheader. It’s never a good thing when you meet up with an old friend and that friend takes you out behind the woodshed for a beating. But good for him for catching the Mets at the right time, and for continuing the underground narrative among the trade for Walker should have never happened because DANIEL MURPHY!!!

Lousy Mets losing to Jon Niese.

The good news is that there’s another game coming up. And we got to see Steve Gelbs eat that hot dog with popcorn and jalapeños on it. The bad news is that I’m still wondering why that idiot left his dog home alone all night. I bet you he has one of those “automatic feeders”, as if a feeder could ever replace human interaction. Jerk.
