We knew this wouldn’t take too long, and it’s finally happened. Former University of North Dakota All-American defenseman Troy Stecher scored the first goal of his NHL career on Sunday against the Dallas Stars. Stecher’s goal tied the game for the Canucks and forced overtime against the Stars. The Canucks would go on to win the game 5-4 in overtime.

Since joining the Canucks, Stecher has made quite the impression on the Canucks and is six months removed for helping UND win an eighth NCAA title. In seven games with the Canucks, Stecher has scored a goal and three points. Stecher is also a minus-three.
