SCSU Tired of Seeing Green, Too

This is the kind of crap that rubs me the wrong way. First, it probably won’t limit UND fans from getting into the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, but it’s a pain in the posterior.

Maybe, the Ralph Englestad Arena should limit the number of tickets, or raise the ticket prices for UNO and SCSU fans.

Second, when the NCHC was first formed SCSU wasn’t part of the original six teams to get in the league. After lobbying (begging) the league members, to get into the National Colligate Hockey Conference, they go pull this crap.

In my humble opinion, this is petty, short sighted and just wrong. Apparently, Saint Cloud State doesn’t want to sell out their hockey arena. This is how I am reading this.

St. Cloud State is forcing fans to buy flex-packs — presumably with other games attached — if they want to get into the UND-Huskies series in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in November.

St. Cloud State’s ticket site hasn’t listed the details about the flex-pack yet. The UND series is the only one with restrictions on buying single-game tickets.

Fans could potentially skirt around the policy by buying group tickets (20-plus) or waiting until game day, when unsold tickets will be released as single-game seats. The Huskies traditionally do not sell out home games.

As Schlossman has noted in the past, the University of Denver Pioneers tried to limit UND fans, and it failed miserably.

By the time game week arrived, Denver ditched the policy and opened up the few remaining single-game tickets, free of restrictions.

Denver’s idea backfired. Magness Arena was flooded with green and white for both games. UND, feeling right at home, scored early Friday night and routed the Pioneers in the opener.

For those that are wondering, SCSU averages 4,398 fans per game last season. Their Herb Brooks National Hockey Center seats 5,159 fans for hockey. That’s good for 18th nationally. You’re team isn’t selling out their games, yet you want to limit fans from other teams. Five NCHC teams out drew yours (UND, UMD, UNO, DU, C.C.).
