Statistically, Who’s the Worst Team in the NCHC

Last week, Donna Carpenter AKA the hockey blogger affectionally known as Runnin’ with the Dogs said that the University of Minnesota-Duluth is the worst team in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Of course, I respectfully replied that the Dogs are bad, but they’re not the worst team in the NCHC.

Looking at the numbers, my first thoughts were right. If the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs could score, they’d be a pretty good hockey team. The Bulldogs also have some of the best possession numbers in college hockey.

Numbers and seeding aside, I am also not sure anyone would want to play them in the first round of the NCHC playoffs. While Bulldogs fans will probably disagree with me. Eventually, UMD is going to go off and score a pile of goals, especially with the talent on their team.
