UND Headed Back to the Frozen Four

For a third year in a row, the University of North Dakota is headed back to the Frozen Four. (This will be the first year that the Fighting Hawks advance to the Frozen Faceoff).  We will soon find out if the new nickname has any luck in it. UND will again try to win that elusive eighth NCAA title. UND fans are wondering if this the year UND finally breaks through?

In the week leading up to the Frozen Four, the hockey pundits from the east coast said that UND wouldn’t make it out of their semifinal game.  We heard that Northeastern was smoking hot and riding high. The eastern hockey pundits said that UND would be hard pressed to come out of the semifinals.  From listening to the pregame on the radio, it was obvious that the UND hockey team was sick and tired of hearing about how great Northeastern Huskies were and smartly ended their season. UND ran them out of the building.

In the end, I think UND dispatched the Huskies with ease and the game was never really that close. Were the Huskies a good team? You bet they were, but UND showed them why they were a number-one seed.

Then, UND had to prove the naysayers wrong by whipping the Michigan Wolverines and their famed CCM line. I guarantee that the Wolverines never played a team like UND this season. If they played in the NCHC their record would be a lot different. That being said, I must congratulate the Huskies and Wolverines on very successful seasons. Both teams will be back in the future.
