BREAKING NEWS: Mike Brown Traded To The Sharks

Jeff Scott Bama

Well folks, Craig MacTavish has made a trade, he’s sent forward tough guy Mike Brown to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fourth round pick. It’s not the block buster that we have been talking about for the last 10 days, but what this trade does for the Oilers is drop the team down to 48 contracts, and free up $736,000 in cap space. In response to the trade Ben Eager has joined the team in Montreal and can be expected to be in the line up tomorrow night with the injuries to Taylor Hall and Ryan Smyth.

This move isn’t much but, I’m wondering if it is a sign of something bigger? I won’t speculate on who or what it could mean in terms of more changes but one has to think that maybe there’s more to this trade than meets the eye. The Oilers today called up Tyler Pitlick, and Taylor Fedun and now Ben Eager. The most interesting this about these call-ups is Taylor Fedun, the team allready has 7 defensemen on the roster and now is going to have an eighth in Fedun. Hmmm.

Anyway that’s the news for now, the Oilers trade Mike Brown, free up 700k in cap space and clear a contract off the books. Stay tuned something tells me this one isn’t done just yet
