Nurse to miss up to 12 weeks

DocHead

This morning, it was announced that the Edmonton Oilers will be without the services of defenceman Darnell Nurse for the next 12 weeks.

Now in his second year, Nurse’s game took big strides from his rookie year to this season. Him looking more calm, cool and collective on the ice has begun to pay off for the Oilers as he is beginning to show more signs of a legit NHL player.

It is starting to reflect on his shot-metrics, which have improved since last season.

The team could be getting some help back soon, which helps alleviate the loss of Darnell Nurse who will effectively turn into a trade deadline acquisition upon his presumed return in February/March.

On top of that, the play of young guns Matt Benning and Dillon Simpson has helped the Oilers defence this season. Both rookies have been able to keep their head above water this season and Benning is showing early signs of being a legit RS NHL D.
