If giving up two runs in six and 2/3’s innings is what Matt Harvey does when he’s rusty, I can’t wait to see what this kid can do on normal rest. And normal rest would have him pitching on Saturday.
Perhaps Saturday will find him pitching against the Dodgers at Citi Field?
Yeah, not exactly the Toledo Mud Hens. But then again, and he’s the most important point I can make: Matt Harvey isn’t exactly Miguel Batista. Harvey had a damn no-hitter for five innings for crissakes. Taking into an account the translation from minor league hitters to major league hitters, two runs in six and 2/3’s innings against the Mud Hens translates against the Dodgers to a stat line which will be better than anything Miguel can give you at this point. And if it doesn’t, well I’ll still take my chances.
By the way, Miguel just wrote a poem to sum up his feelings about Matt Harvey’s start for Buffalo on Monday:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
I’d better pack.
(Editor’s note: Jason Bay played too. He wen’t 0 for 2 with two walks and a strikeout. He also lost a ball in the lights. Clearly Bay is in midseason form … which works since it’s the middle of the season.)
