Age, Crankiness, and Neil Allen

Boy, Monday was not the day to take LSD.

First off, and I’m a little late on this, I saw ESPN’s 30 for 30 on Fantasy Baseball.  I had been saving it for a slow day, and Home Run Derby Monday is mighty slow.  So I watched. And I found out that the very first season of fantasy baseball was won by a team because they drafted Neil Allen.

It just made me feel old.

Then, after watching Hanley Ramirez swing his way to second place in Batting Practice Derby (and to an .038 average for the second half of the season) came the taped All-Star Softball game, where the National League featured catcher Gary Carter, protected in the lineup by first baseman Mike Piazza.

That’s first baseman … Mike Piazza.  Carter, two replaced knees, catches while Piazza plays first base.  And Piazza’s protection in the lineup was Marisa Miller while Jennie Finch is wasted at the bottom of the order.  Who’s managing this team, Art Howe?

Wait, it was John Kruk.  Okay, that explains it.

You know how slow a sports day Monday was?  I’m complaining about the managerial moves in a meaningless softball game.  Must be that crankiness that comes with old age.

Now what would Omar have to give up to bring back Jennie Finch in a trade?
