And Then There Were Two …

Matt Garza threw the major league’s fifth no-hitter on Monday night against the Detroit Tigers, leaving the Mets as only one of two franchises to never have a no-hitter pitched in their history.

After the game, the Tigers fired hitting coach Howard Johnson.

When told they didn’t employ Johnson, the Tigers offered to trade Gil Meche for Johnson so they could fire him.

When told they didn’t have Gil Meche under contract, the Tigers offered to trade Oliver Perez for Meche, so they could turn him around for Johnson so they could fire him.

When told they didn’t have Oliver Perez under contract, the Tigers realized life wasn’t so bad.  Jim Leyland then smoked a cigarette.

When told that you couldn’t smoke in Comerica Park, Leyland drooled on an umpire and was ejected.
