And You Thought He was Merely a Figurehead

Stanford, CT has survived the 2011 Snowpocalypse, thanks to Bobby Valentine.

As you may know, Valentine was named the public safety director for the city, and to show that he wasn’t hired merely to manage the community softball team, Valentine was out in the aftermath of the latest snowstorm making sure that commuters drove around his town … safely.   I heard that what’s really helped Bobby deal with traffic in this new position is his new “platoon driving system”, where residents are not allowed to be on the roads more than three days in a row.  It’s really helped ease traffic in and around town.  Detractors of the plan should be reminded that Valentine knows more about public safety than you do.

But if this is an idea of the amount of effort that Bobby V puts into his position, then let’s just say I wouldn’t walk around Stamford on a Sunday night when Bobby’s doing ESPN’s game of the week.
