The Oilers made a minor transaction today, assigning Anton Slepyshev to Bakersfield while recalling Taylor Beck.
The best thing about minor transactions is that they don’t necessarily exist in Oil Country.
I was very upset when I heard the Oilers had sent Slepyshev down. I’ve loved his game this entire season and felt he was a different player than we saw last season. I’ve already mentioned on Twitter that he deserves to be with the club instead of Slepyshev.
The only silver lining is that the Oilers recalled the top scorer in the entire AHL Taylor Beck.
Beck should draw into the lineup right away, but he needs to play with either Draisaitl, Nuge or McDavid.
I believe it would be interesting to use Beck on McDavid’s line and see what happens. Lucic has been the biggest constant on the left side while the right side has been a revolving door.
Hopefully Slepyshev years up the AHL and gets back when the Oilers finally send Puljuajrvi down for much needed seasoning. He’s been far and away the better player of the two.
However, Beck’s strong resume to this point, coupled with his insane production in the minors warranted a recall.
To channel my inner Príncipe, hopefully this makes the team Becker….
I apologize
