On the heels of Matt Hendricks’ 3-game suspension and yet another 3rd period collapse last night in Arizona, the Oilers have recalled Zack Kassian from Bakersfield, where he tallied 1 point in 4 games.
The 6’3”, 217 pound Kassian is automatically the Oilers biggest forward, and will hopefully bring some intensity to the lineup where before there wasn’t much.
It obviously remains to be seen if he’ll draw in for tomorrow night’s game in San Jose, but I would expect that he’ll play most of his minutes on the 3rd line.
If the Oilers do activate Nail Yakupov off the IR, there will have to be another roster move to accommodate Kassian. I’m not a psychic, but I’d imagine that if Pakarinen or Brad Hunt isn’t sent down to make room, then there might be some movement with one of Luke Gazdic ( a facepuncher who doesn’t really punch and who was scratched again in favour of a 7th defenceman last night), Anton Lander (who hasn’t scored a goal this season, possibly for lack of trying) or possibly even Rob Klinkhammer.
