Welcome to the new and improved Oilers Rig.
The Oilers aren’t the only team getting a new home this season. Some time ago we here at the Rig decided it would be nice to give the site a bit of a facelift.
Megan, Jon and I brainstormed what we thought would be best for the new site and then set out to make something great happen. This new look will bring with it a much better mobile platform, a new commenting system and a much easier way to navigate through the site and read the many great articles from our great stable of writers.
Oh, and most importantly, just like then new Oilers building, there won’t be any long lineups to use the facilities.
We’ve added a page dedicated to Sean Wingrave’s fantastic coverage of the Alberta Golden Bears hockey program and hope to start covering some of the other area amateur hockey clubs in the near to not so distant future.
Not to mention pages for our charity endeavors for the MS Society, where you can find information on past and upcoming events that we’re involved in. If you have a charity event that you’d like to promote here on the page, just drop us a line. We’ll review it, and if it meets our criteria, we’ll gladly post it and do our best to bring some publicity to your event.
And a store! Yes, that’s right an Oilers Rig Store. T-shirts, tanks, hoodies, baseball tees, phone cases–it’s all there. Don’t forget to buy your Rig Wear as 10% of all proceeds are donated to the MS Society.
And while you’re browsing our new look, make sure to take a stop by the Authors page where you can learn a little, or a lot, about our writers. Here you can find all their social media and contact information, if you so choose. And you should because, I must say, they’re a great bunch to interact with.
Later in the week we’ll also be adding a new comment system which is very user friendly. But don’t worry because any comments you make now will still be around when we go live with the new tech.
Please let us know what you think of the new site. We’re always looking to make improvements. If there is something you’d like to see, besides the Oilers in the playoffs (we’re good but we’re not that good), leave a comment below and let us know your thoughts.
Thanks for reading, and thank you for returning to this site. Without you as a reader we wouldn’t have been able to make these changes.
