Crappy Anniversary

Today is the 20th anniversary of Al Harazin trading David Cone to the Blue Jays. Cone will probably celebrate by looking at all the World Series rings he helped other teams win. Harazin will probably celebrate by taking candy from babies. I’ll celebrate by watching Jeff Kent get eaten by sharks on Survivor.

(Editor’s Note: Ryan Thompson, who was the other “prospect” in that trade, reportedly spent the winter of 1993 reading Ted Williams’ The Science of Hitting. Thompson used that knowledge to strike out 171 times in his remaining 601 at-bats as a Met. Perhaps Thompson will spend this 20th anniversary actually reading the book and instead of the cliff notes.)
