Exciting times at TheOilersRig.com

nextWell hello everybody! I’m very excited to be joining the team here at TheOilersRig.com. It was a few months ago that I was approached by Alex and Jeremy with whether or not I would be interested in being involved in a podcast about the Edmonton Oilers and the Oilers blogosphere. Well immediately I was excited with the idea. It was an idea I’d been bouncing around, in the hollow emptiness that most people call a brain, for a while. Wow, a podcast. I wondered how successful it could be; currently there are no other active podcasts that focus specifically on the Oilers.

So after many hours of back and forth between Jeremy (a great producer by the way) and Alex (super talented host and journalism student), they agreed to let me ride their coat tails into the wind and get this adventure on the go. The three of us have many, many ideas on where we would like to see this site and this podcast in the future, but for right now it is very much a work in progress.

I can tell you that between Alex, Jeremy and I we have a mutual determination to make this venture in to something extraordinary. We have publicized three shows so far, each one a little better than the last and the hopes that the improvement will continue.

So what exactly are we going to do, well we are going bring you the Oilers news that you want to hear. Another view apart from what you hear daily from the Edmonton sports media. We are going to bring you guests from around the Oilogoshphere, we’ve already had Jeff Chapman, Steve Schulte and Richard Cloutier on, and the list of people that have agreed (been blackmailed) to be on the show is getting longer every day.

TEASER: We are having a huge guest Tuesday night on the show, who you will be able to listen to Wednesday. I can’t say who because, something that we have quickly learned producing these shows is scheduling can be an absolute nightmare and may possibly be our biggest hurdle going forward.

Anyhow, do you know what can make the podcast even better? Well you can, one thing that we want to continue to push is fan involvement both in the articles and the podcast. Before every show the three of us go out looking for questions, whether they come from twitter @theoilersrig, or The Oilers Rig Facebook page, or our personal twitter accounts (Alex – @alex_thomas14 , Jeremy @jthompson2380 , and myself @rustyknuckler). Soon you will see polls posted on the site as well. This show will not work without fan involvement; we want to talk about what you want to hear. Feel free to post your thoughts on any of the articles as well; my favorite blogs are the ones that stir up the conversation.

Again, Thank you to Alex and Jeremy for having me here, thanks to all of those that have been instrumental in getting this off the ground and most of all thank you to you the readers and the people who are listening in to the podcast. . . Don’t forget to tell your friends

Thanks For Reading
